Deity

Hyper Coaster

A collaborative project with me and Jay from Parkscape Design, who brought my vision of a 200ft high cathedral style station to life. This is a hyper coaster in a giga style, which is all about high speed and floater air. Taking inspiration from Orion at King’s Island I wanted a coaster that gave a fun exhilarating ride, but with a realistic track length which was a very challenging balance.

The theme came from how people saw Giga coasters, as the gods of the rollercoaster world. Being so rare, each one had its own distinct personality, these rides have been likened to having a religious experience. I’ve always found religious buildings and theology really fascinating and I thought it would be fun to create a fictional new religion, one that worshipped speed, height, force and air with the Deity rollercoaster being the final right of passage. The area around the ride contains things we are familiar with, but with a bit of a surreal twist, I wanted guests to be curious but unnerved but exit the experience enlightened.

Ride Soundtrack

The sound track contains a mix of various influences, from Americana guitars to monks singing. It all adds to the surreal and daunting nature of the ride, almost like you’re stuck in a dream.
